MUMBAI: Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) will petition MSRDC to roll back the 18% increase in toll charges for the Bandra-Worli sea link, its executive chairman Nitin Dossa said. If there is no positive reply, WIAA will move to court challenging the toll hike.
Toll rates for Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the cable-stayed bridge over Mahim Bay, are hiked every three years.
From April 1, toll for cars and SUVs is Rs 100 one-way, up from Rs 85. The return journey costs Rs 150, up from Rs 127.5, while the daily pass has risen to Rs 250 from Rs 212.5.
Pointing out that vehicle owners are being heavily taxed, about 45-50% on vehicle cost and fuel in addition to other charges, Dossa said that it is more than 20 years since the sea link toll was collected and another hike is now unwarranted.
