Besa to soon get sports hub with pool, futsal turfBesa to get swanky sports hub with pool, futsal turf
Nagpur: To cater to the fitness and recreation needs of fast-growing Besa-Pipla area, the nagar panchayat is set to establish a sports hub featuring swimming pool, football turf and modern badminton facilities. The proposed project is expected to significantly improve access to sports amenities for residents, especially the younger generation.Besa-Pipla Nagar Panchayat chief officer Bharat Nandanwar said the proposed sports complex, estimated to cost 5 crore, will be developed near the old Besa Gram Panchayat office. The proposal has been sent for approval, and further procedures are underway. Nandanwar said one of the key attractions of the project will be a swimming pool along with sports training facilities. He noted that residents from Besa and surrounding areas travel considerable distances for training and recreation. The project aims to create a dedicated sports ecosystem within the locality. Apart from the swimming pool, the nagar panchayat is simultaneously undertaking the development of multiple sports facilities. The construction of futsal court at Ghogali in Besa-Pipla is nearing completion. Officials said the multipurpose sports arena has been designed to encourage the participation of the youth, promote fitness, and create community engagement through sports activities. In another project, a badminton court near Harihar Nagar is also under development. The facility is planned as a comprehensive sports centre equipped with gymnasium facilities, separate changing rooms for men and women, waiting areas, cafeteria space and other recreational amenities. Authorities said the project aims to provide quality infrastructure and training opportunities for aspiring athletes.Residents have welcomed the initiative, stating that sports infrastructure had long remained a missing element in the rapidly expanding residential belt."Thousands of families have shifted here in recent years, but children have had very few organised sports facilities in the area. A swimming pool and sports complex will greatly benefit youngsters," said Rohit Khandelwal, who currently takes his children to Ambazari for swimming classes.Another resident, Priya Deshmukh, said parents often struggled to find quality sports coaching options within the locality. "Children were forced to travel to other parts of Nagpur for swimming or professional sports facilities. Having these amenities here itself will save time and encourage more participation," she said.Officials said the nagar panchayat's focus remains on creating modern community infrastructure and promoting fitness culture. With Besa witnessing rapid urban growth, the proposed projects are expected to add a new dimension to the area's recreational landscape.
