‘BJP’s success rooted in sacrifices of workers like Sumatitai’

Nagpur: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday paid tributes to the late Sumatitai Sukalikar and said BJP's success is rooted in the sacrifices of dedicated workers like her. Sukalikar, a veteran BJP leader who began her career in erstwhile Jan Sangh days, passed away in 2011 at the age of 88.
The event was organized by Deendayal Shodh Sansthan. Recalling her contribution, Gadkari said, "Today tai is not among us, but she devoted her entire life to the organisation and to the ideology with dedication and struggle." Gadkari said.Linking her legacy to the party's growth, Gadkari said, "If there is any real reason behind the success of BJP — whether in Nagpur, in Maharashtra or across the country — it is because of workers like tai who, in adverse circumstances, made sacrifices and worked with total dedication for the organisation and the ideology."Referring to the difficult political period of the late 1970s, Gadkari said workers faced attacks and intimidation. He said observing Sukalikar's death anniversary as ‘Karyakarta Diwas' was a way to remind younger workers of that spirit of commitment.
