Nagpur: The Additional Sessions Court granted bail to Fahim Khan in a murder which occurred during the Mahal riots on March 17 last year.
In the order passed on May 13, Judge RM Mishra observing that the applicant had no direct role in the murder of Irfan Shafiq Ahmad Ansari, who was assaulted during stone-pelting between two groups at Gitanjali Chowk during the riots. The murder case was registered at Tehsil police station.
The court noted that Faheem Khan was arrested on May 1 after more than a year, and no incriminating evidence was recovered from him. Several co-accused have already been granted bail.
Khan has been released on a personal bond of Rs50,000 with one solvent surety and strict conditions, including regular police station reporting and non-tampering with witnesses. The court said further investigation in the case will continue.
