Industry body urges MLAs to get air service started
NASHIK: The Nashik Industries & Manufacturers' Association (NIMA) will now seek support of Nashik district MLAs to start the air service, which can featch large investments under the Make in India project of the state government.
The association has invited MLAs from the district for a meeting, which will be held at NIMA House on Sunday. They plan to discuss industry-related issues and pursue the air service issue with the state government.

"There have been several long-pending industrial issues, which are yet to be settled. So, we are planning to take help of all 15 MLAs in Nashik district, who will pursue these issues with chief minister Devendra Fadanvis and state industry minister Subhash Desai," NIMA secretary Uday Kharote said.
Among other industrial issues, commencement of air service remains priority. "Even though the Ozar airport, near Nashik, is on the en-route map of Aeronautical Information Publication of the director general civil aviation, it is yet to start air service. Earlier, Air India had proposed Mumbai-Nashik air service, but it could not work out as GVK refused to give slots for flights at Mumbai airport. We want hopping flights via Mumbai or Pune to Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi. So, we will urge the MLAs to make efforts for this at the government-level," NIMA vice-president Mangesh Patankar said.
