NMC staffer booked for cheating

Nashik: A sanitation worker of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has been booked for allegedly misappropriating nearly Rs 18 lakh by cheating property taxpayers in the Panchavati area of Nashik city.According to the press release issued by the civic body, the accused — attached to the solid waste management department of the municipal corporation — allegedly collected property tax dues in cash between Sept 10, 2025 and Jan 19, 2026, and kept the money with himself.An inquiry carried out by the civic body found a loss of Rs 17.63 lakh. Based on a complaint by assistant superintendent Uday Khairnar, Panchavati police registered an FIR. The NMC has suspended the employee.
