Seven accused in TCS sexual harassment cases file bail applications
Nashik: All seven people arrested so far in the sexual offence cases linked to the TCS Nashik office have filed bail applications before courts in Nashik city and Nashik Road. The hearings on these pleas are scheduled over the next few days, police sources said.
A total of nine cases have been registered, involving eight TCS employees accused of sexual offences and hurting religious sentiments. Among the accused are two women, including an assistant general manager (delivery partner). The whereabouts of one woman employee, wanted in the first case registered at the Deolali Camp police station, is not known yet.
The first case, involving charges of rape, sexual harassment and hurting religious sentiments, was registered with the Deolali Camp police station on March 26. Subsequently, eight more cases related to sexual harassment and hurting religious sentiments were registered with the Mumbai Naka police station on April 2.
Except for the two women accused, the remaining accused are named in more than one of the nine cases. Two accused in the Deolali Camp rape case have applied for bail, while the whereabouts of the co-accused woman staffer remain unknown. Their bail plea hearing has been posted for May 2 before the Nashik Road sessions court.
The assistant general manager, who is among those arrested, also filed a bail application on Tuesday, her lawyer said. Meanwhile, the men named in the cases registered at Mumbai Naka police station have separately moved bail applications for each offence. Hearings on these pleas have been scheduled for April 28.
Overall, bail applications have been filed by the accused in at least five of the nine cases registered so far, authorities said.
