Nashik: The Nashik police have arrested a 42-year-old woman, her 19-year-old son and one other man on the charge of abetment of suicide and “causing disappearance of evidence” in connection with a 25-year-old youth’s death.
On Saturday morning, the Adgaon police had found a body within their jurisdiction. After registering a case of accidental death, the police launched an investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased person.
Meanwhile, the post mortem report revealed that the youth died due to hanging.
Police later found out that the deceased youth was Ramesh More, who hailed from Bhusawal in
Jalgaon district. He had been staying in the Ozar area and worked as a private bus conductor.
Subsequent investigations revealed that More had an affair with a 42-year-old woman of the Ozar area. The woman also helped him get a room for rent. When she came to know that More’s parents were eager for him to get married, she had started forcing him to marry her. As More was not willing, the woman allegedly got frustrated, but she continued pestering him. On Friday, More called her up and said that he was ending his life due to her continuous demands. Later, he hung himself inside his rented room.
When the woman came to see him, she found the door locked from inside. Since there was no response to knocks, the door was broke open in front of the landlord and other neighbours. More was then found hanging from the ceiling fan.
On the pretext of taking him to a hospital, the woman, her son and his friend took the body and dumped it instead on an open plot. They wanted no one to know about More and the cause of his suicide.
Irfan Shaikh, the senior PI of the Adgaon police station, said Ramesh More had not been in contact with his family for a year. All the three accused have been arrested and have been given three-day police custody.
The woman’s husband resides in Mumbai.
