Man held for making viral video clip of his sexual assault on woman doctor he befriended on social media

NAVI MUMBAI: A 23-year-old man from Pune has been arrested by Kharghar police for allegedly making viral a video of his sexual assault on a 28-year-old woman doctor whom he had befriended on social media.Ajay Kamble, Senior Inspector of Kharghar, informed that the arrested accused is identified as Anand Gatey. The complainant, a woman doctor, registered an FIR on Monday alleging that the accused, Gatey, befriended her on social media in April last year. Once, they met in Kharghar when he allegedly spiked her soft drink with some sedative and took her to Raj Lodge in Satara, where he allegedly forcibly sexually assaulted her. He video recorded the sexual assault on his mobile and then started threatening her that he would make it viral on social media. As the accused kept demanding sexual favours from her and she refused, he made their sexual act video viral on social media recently. Hence, she registered an FIR against him, and he was booked under relevant sections of BNS for rape and causing hurt by means of poison, along with the Information Technology Act for publishing or transmitting material containing sexually explicit acts or conduct in electronic form.Inspector Kamble said, "The accused was arrested on Tuesday by laying a trap for him in Kharghar. The complainant was told to call him for a meeting and tell him that she was willing to fulfil his demand for sexual favour. As he arrived at the meeting spot, the cops laying in wait apprehended him. His seized mobile contains the video clip of this sexual assault on the complainant, which he made viral on social media, and it is vital evidence against him. Panvel court remanded him to police custody for three days."
