GREATER NOIDA: A public school owner's brother and his friend were kidnapped from Surajpur area in Greater Noida on Sunday evening. The duo had gone to collect registration papers of their car from the roundabout of Heritage Club. On Monday morning, their Tata Safari was recovered from Janpath village, hardly half a km from the roundabout. Senior cops said prima facie it appears to be a case of money laundering.
Cops have detained the son of a key suspect in the case.
The victims have been identified as Rajesh Bhati and Ram Kishore. Rajesh's brother runs Oxford Green public school in Sirsa. On Sunday evening, the duo were sitting in the office of their common friend Dharmender in C block of Alfa commercial belt when Rajesh got a call from Teekam Chand. Chand called him to Heritage Club roundabout to handover car registration documents. Rajesh and Ram Kishore left the office around 6.30 pm but did not return.
"We came to know about the incident after Dharmender called me up enquiring about my brother's whereabouts. He did not come home the whole night and his mobile phone was not reachable. After several attempts to track him we were informed that Rajesh's car was found in Janpad village.
We immediately called the cops," Rakesh Bhati, brother of Rajesh Bhati.
"The key suspect Teekram and three of his sons are on the run after the incident. Teekram had borrowed Rs three crore from Rajesh and Rs 80 lakh from my brother. Teekram was in no mood to return the money," said Parinder Kishore, elder brother of Ram Kishore.
The police have recovered Ram's slippers from Janpad village.
"A team has been formed and raids are being conducted in several areas. One of Teekram's sons has been detained. Teekram and his associates have reportedly fled to western UP. Our team is tracking them," said a senior police officer investigating the case.
"The accused are likely to be arrested by Monday night," Jolly said.
