NOIDA: The Noida police on Thursday arrested a woman for siphoning off Rs. 1.25 lakh from a private security agency where she was employed. According to the police, Shiney Parveen, a resident of Gazipur had managed to steal one of the company chequebooks earlier this month and had forged signatures of the accountant to draw the amount.
Parveen, a BBA from Aligarh Muslim University, had joined work at Max Security and intelligence Private Ltd at sector 7 in March this year.
Earlier this month, she managed to steal a company cheque book containing about 40 cheques. She then forged the signature of the company accountant Chinmay Das and handed over two cheques worth Rs. 1.25 lakh to her younger sister Sanjeeda, who then encashed the same from ICICI bank in sector 20, the police said.
On Thursday, Shiney went to the same ICICI bank branch in sector 20 to encash another cheque worth Rs. 28,000. However, the branch manager got suspicious of the signature and called the company enquiring about the cheque. "After the accountant denied having sent any employee to the bank, the manager informed the police, who then arrested Shiney, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Brajesh Kumar Shrivastav.
The police have registered a case in this regard and have also identified Shiney's younger sister Sanjeeda as a co-accused. They are yet to arrest Sanjeeda so far.
