Buxar: A 12-year-old boy drowned while bathing in a pond at Veerpur village under Murar police station area in Buxar district on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Arjun Yadav, son of Guddu Yadav, a resident of the same village.
According to locals, Arjun had gone to bathe in the pond with his friends when he accidentally slipped into deeper water. His companions failed to notice that he was drowning. After a search that lasted around two-and-a-half hours, local divers recovered his body from the pond.
Arjun’s father, a daily wage worker in Hyderabad, left for his native village after being informed about the incident, family members said.
On receiving information, a team from Murar police station reached the spot and pacified the grieving family. After completing legal formalities, the body was sent for post-mortem.
Murar SHO Neha Kumari said the boy died due to drowning. She added that a case of unnatural death (UD) will be registered after the post-mortem.
