All-out efforts to woo voters in Bhagalpur

In the Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation (BMC) election on Monday, 5pm, the major contestants for the post of Mayor are Dr. Bashundhara Lal (a Gynaecologist), outgoing Mayor Seema Sah (Savita Devi Pratima Devi), Gazala Parween (Rafat Bano), Khushboo Kumari (Shweta Priyadarshini), Priyadarshini (Amrita Rajamouli), and Bano (Khushboo Kumari). For the Deputy Mayor post, the major contenders are Omnath Bharti, Kavita Rai, Chotey Lal, Kumar Neha, Bhagirath Sah, Santosh Kumar, Salauddin Ahsan, and Anup Lal Sah. This is the first time that direct elections are held for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, and the BMC has been in existence since 1864.

Bhagalpur: Candidates for the posts of mayor, deputy mayor and councillor were seen making all-out efforts to woo voters on Sunday as the campaigning will come to an end for Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation (BMC) election at 5pm on Monday.
Major contestants for the post of BMC mayor are Dr Bashundhara Lal (a gynaecologist), outgoing mayor Seema Saha, Savita Devi, Pratima Devi, Gazala Parween, Rafat Bano, Khushboo Kumari, Shweta Priyadarshini and Amrita Raj.

Among those in the race for deputy mayor post are Omnath Bharti, Kavita Rai, Chotey Lal Kumar, Neha Kumari, Bhagirath Sah, Santosh Kumar, Salauddin Ahsan (principal of Muslim Minority College), Subodh Mandal, Anup Lal Sah and Ashish Ranjan.
Bhagalpur became municipal council in 1864 and municipal corporation on April 15, 1981. This is the first time that direct elections are held for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor.
