Nitish Kumar on Friday flagged off 34 firefighting vehicles to strengthen fire stations in different districts. The vehicles are equipped with 72 types of firefighting apparatuses.
“Officials and employees of the Bihar Fire Service have continuously been working to save people and properties from fire through the available resources. With additional 34 vehicles, the fire fighting work will be executed more effectively.
Most of these vehicles have the capacity of storing and carrying 5,000 litres of water,” a statement issued from the chief minister’s office said.
Earlier, director general (home guards and fire services) Shobha Ahotkar welcomed the chief minister. The CM also released a booklet based on the achievements and multidimensional development of the Bihar Fire Service.
Other prominent persons present on the occasion were Bihar legislative council chairperson Devesh Chandra Thakur, building construction minister Ashok Choudhary, law minister Shamim Ahmad, labour resources minister Surendra Ram, SC/ ST welfare minister Ratnesh Sada, Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) vice-chairman Uday Kant Mishra, principal secretary to the CM, Deepak Kumar, DGP R S Bhatti, additional chief secretary (home) S Siddharth, secretary (home) K Senthil Kumar, special secretary (home) K S Anupam, Patna district magistrate Chandra Shekhar Singh and SSP Rajiv Mishra.
