PATNA: Kankarbagh area observed bandh on Tuesday demanding immediate release of one Nand Lal Vishwakarma, orthopaedic appliance engineer of the Viklang Bhavan Hospital, who was kidnapped from the area a few days back. The call for south Patna bandh to protest against the incident was given by the local residents. In the forenoon, hundreds of agitators blocked the road near Chiraiyatand overbridge.
Later, the agitators took out a procession in the area in order to ensure the closure of all shops. Interestingly, policemen were seen suggesting to the shopkeepers to down their shutters while the procession was on its way. Later, the agitators reached the old bus stand in Kankarbagh area and sat on dharna for about an hour. Talking to TNN, Jagdish Choudhary, Sadar DSP, said police were making their best efforts to arrest the named accused in this case. According to him, Vishwakarma's family members have lodged a case against his son in-law Sintu besides other persons. He said Vishwakarma's daughter was married to Sintu about a year back after falling in love with him. "Sintu had allegedly demanded money from Vishwakarma earlier for starting some business." A police team has already been sent to Punpun for arresting the accused persons in this case, police said.
