Man found murdered in Samastipur field

Patna: A 22-year-old man was found murdered in a field on the outskirts of Musapur village under Ghatho police station area in Samastipur district on Tuesday morning. The deceased, Vikas Kumar, had sustained multiple stab wounds on his neck and back, police said.According to family members, a wedding ceremony was held in the neighbourhood on Monday night. Vikas had gone to attend the feast along with relatives but did not return home afterwards. When he failed to come back late at night, family members started searching for him.His body was later found lying in an open field outside the village on Tuesday morning.Vikas’s cousin Mithilesh Kumar said, “Everyone in the house went to the wedding. Vikas also went to the feast but didn’t return for a long time. We were looking for him since night. We have no enmity with anyone.”Soon after the body was discovered, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot. Police reached the area, took possession of the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.Dalsinghsarai DSP Vivek Kumar Sharma confirmed the youth was murdered.“The matter is being thoroughly investigated and the case will be solved soon,” Vivek said, adding that according to family members, Vikas was mentally challenged.
