One killed, 6 hurt in family dispute

bettiah: one person was killed, six were injured and two abducted from the kamta rajpur village under the sahodara police station in west champaran late on saturday night. calling it a result of ongoing land dispute, bettiah sp anil kishore yadav told the times of india that members of a single family were targeted by the birbal chaudhary gang whose services were enlisted by two families, including a widow, jai kali devi, who have a running land dispute with the victim's family.birbal, a dreaded criminal from the diara, is said to be the son-in-law of the jai kali devi. sources, meanwhile, told this correspondent that around 11 pm on saturday, about 15 armed criminals of the birbal gang attacked the village, about 70 km from here, and opened indiscriminate fire inside a hut. karim gaddi was killed in the gunfire which also injured six others, including namajee khatoon, arif dewan, shakeel ahmad, nurul hoda, farmar and mustaqim. the criminals then abducted two persons — afzal, 15, and karul hoda, 20. afzal was later released by the criminals who inflicted gunshot wounds in his hand and abdomen. undergoing treatment at the gounaha referral hospital, afzal told local newsmen that the gangsters released him with a demand that a ransom of rs 3 lakh be paid to them within one week.
