PU postpones annual convocation
PATNA: The next annual convocation of Patna University (PU) scheduled to be held on August 11 has been postponed until further orders. The new date would be announced later, said vice-chancellor (VC) Ras Bihari Prasad Singh on Thursday.
At least 1,000 scholars, who passed their postgraduate examinations, including PhD and DLitt, between January and December last year, will receive degrees on the occasion.

Besides, the toppers of 41 courses will be awarded gold medals.
While Reserve Bank of India governor Urjit Patel is likely to attend the convocation as the chief guest, governor Keshri Nath Tripathi will preside.
Notre Dame Academy: Notre Dame Academy on Thursday organized a function to honour computer science teacher Rajiv Kathuria for completing 25 years at the school.
The programme began with a prayer song and a dance performance by the primary students. A dance drama on the life of Kathuria was also presented by Class X students of the school.
School principal Sr Mary Jessy, provincial head Sr Tessy, Montessori wing director Sr Namrata and primary wing headmistress Sr Karuna were also present on the occasion.
Magadh Mahila College: Ankita Raj (BCA-II) and Ishu (political science-I) won the mehndi and rakhi-making contests respectively at the Shrawan Mahotsava organized by Magadh Mahila College on Thursday.

While Matina (BCom-I) and Sonali Kumari (BBA-II) bagged the second and third positions respectively in the rakhi-making competition, Nidhi Sharma (BCom-III) and Archana Kumar (BCom-II) won the second and third prize respectively in the mehndi contest.
The girls also took part in a dance competition in which ‘Rang Sawan Ke’ group lifted the winner’s trophy. ‘Rangilo’ and ‘Lawni’ groups won the second and third prizes respectively.
The competitions were adjudged by Dr Khushoo and Dr Archana Jaiswal (English department), Nidhi Singh and Farhat Jabin (psychology), Sachita Arpam (philosophy) and Mridula Renu (zoology).
College principal Dr Dharmsheela Prasad congratulated the winners and distributed trophies among them.
