Patna: The ministry of railways has approved a proposal to construct a road over bridge (ROB) worth around Rs 118 crore at Mukuria near busy Katihar Junction under the same division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). The ROB will replace the existing level crossing gate on the National Highway-31 and State Highway-98, a known bottleneck for commuters.Railway officials from the Katihar division confirmed that the ROB will be constructed as a joint venture between the ministry of railways and the state authorities concerned.“The approval of the ROB is a long-awaited development for the people of Katihar and surrounding areas. It will not only decongest the highways but also ensure greater safety for motorists and pedestrians,” said a senior railway official of the Katihar division.According to sources, work is expected to begin shortly with detailed project planning and tendering processes already underway. The project aligns with the central govt’s broader focus on infrastructure development and modernisation of transport systems across the country, they said.
