DMK, Congress MLAs walk out of Puducherry House after ruckus

PUDUCHERRY: The opposition DMK and Congress MLAs walked out of the legislative assembly in Puducherry on Monday condemning the disqualification of Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi after he was convicted to two years in jail in a defamation case.
Congress MLAs M Vaithianathan and Ramesh Parambath, who came to assembly in black shirts, questioned the disqualification of Gandhi, which was vehemently opposed by the BJP MLAs.A heated argument erupted between the Congress MLAs and BJP MLAs. Even as speaker R Selvam tried to pacify them, the Congress and DMK MLAs walked out of the assembly.
However, the DMK MLAs returned to the House a few minutes later. BJP MLA P M L Kalyanasundaram urged the speaker to expunge the remarks of Congress MLAs criticising the disqualification of Gandhi, which the speaker obliged.
The Puducherry assembly was adjourned for half an hour due to lack of quorum. Villupuram MP D Ravikumar on Monday moved a motion pleading with the Lok Sabha secretary-general to adjourn the business of the house to discuss the disqualification of Gandhi.
