Dual nativity issue: Puducherry removes eight TN, Kerala students from MBBS admission list
PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry’s Directorate of Health and Family Welfare has directed the coordinator of the Centralized Admission Committee (Centac) to exclude four candidates from Tamil Nadu and four from Kerala from the list for admission to the MBBS course under its quota as they have dual nativity. In an order dated Sept 13, director (health and family welfare) Dr S Sevvel said these candidates claimed nativity in Puducherry. But it was found that they had also submitted nativity certificates either in Tamil Nadu or Kerala for admissions to colleges in the respective states. The issue came to light after Pondicherry State Students and Parents Welfare Association president Vai Bala alias Balasubramanian lodged complaints accusing students from other states of submitting fake certificates claiming Puducherry nativity.“Clear case of dual nativity confirmed, may be excluded from Centac Neet UG GQ (govt quota) list,” said Sevvel in the order listing out the names of the students.
