PUNE: The city markets are abuzz with customers out for Bakr Eid shopping.
Shop owners selling dry fruits said there is an increase in demand for raisins, cashew nuts, almonds and figs despite a rise in prices by 10-15% compared to last year.
Sahil Khan, co-owner of a dry fruit shop in Kondhwa, said, “Even with the increase in prices, people are opting for top quality dry fruits.”
There is also a heavy rush at garment, footwear and accessories’ shops in Camp, Laxmi Road, Tulsibaug and other market areas.
“We managed to shop for clothes and shoes in Tulsibaug despite the inclement weather,” said Anam Shaikh, a resident of Shukrawar Peth. Shops in Camp too are packed. “This year, we will be going to our hometown for Bakr Eid, so we had to complete our shopping in advance,” said Farida Haider, a resident of NIBM Road.
“Several brands have end-of-season sales, so I got a lot of good stuff,” said Shenaz Ali, a resident of Vimannagar.
Kinjal Radia, centre director, Pavillion Mall, SB Road, said, “There is a rush at the malls. International labels are also offering good deals. We will be having giveaway gifts and some live events.”
