Cops seize ganja worth 10L, 6 held

Pune: In separate actions, the Pimpri Chinchwad police on Tuesday seized ganja worth Rs 10 lakh from Bhosari, Pimpri and Mhalunge and arrested four men and two women.A Bhosari police team led by assistant inspector Somnath Tapre, in the early hours of Tuesday, nabbed two men at Deokar Vasti in Bhosari and recovered 16 kg ganja worth Rs 8 lakh. "The accused were from Dighi. They revealed that they brought the ganja from a man from Odisha," an officer from the Bhosari police said.In Pimpri, teams from the crime branch and Pimpri police raided two spots in the Bhatnagar area and seized ganja worth Rs 1 lakh. The police arrested two women and a man. During questioning, the women have also revealed the name of another woman, who gave ganja to them.Similarly, a Bavdhan police team led by assistant inspector Ashok Dongre arrested a man in Mhalunge and seized ganja worth Rs 62,000 from him. The arrested man is a construction worker and hailed from Katihar district in Bihar. "We are investigating where the accused procured the ganja," an officer from the Bavdhan police said.
