A film festival being organised this weekend by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) promises to bring you a rich repertoire of films by its past students
Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) will conduct a festival of films; one that will screen flicks by the institute’s student directors, both past and present. So, if you’ve always had a liking for quality cinema, your weekend will be a promising one. One will get to watch films that have hardly been screened outside the FTII campus. Here’s the list of films that will be screened...
0 (Zero), Abhishek Varma, Day 1
The film follows a young man who moves through the city, feeling disconnected with the spaces and places around him.

Then, a cupboard gets delivered to the house that the young man reaches by chance.
Songs we wrote, Sandhya Daisy Sundaram, Day 1
Jeet, a young musician and sound recordist, is tired of the city and his fast-paced life. He sets out on a journey to re-
discover his music and himself. Along the way, he meets Kaya, an Italian traveller who can’t hear or speak.
Seek and Hide, Manoj Kumar Nitharwal, Day 1
Seek and Hide is about the voyeuristic impulse turning on to the voyeur. It explores the journey of a teenager who oscillates between his sanitised and largely impersonal middle class existence and the unfamiliar, but far more exciting life in the neighbourhood slum.

Chaita Ki Ek Dupahari, Rakesh Shukla, Day 1
On a hot afternoon in Central India, a retired soldier meets his lover after many years, receiving an affirmative, humane, and all-encompassing insight into life.
Kalpvriksha, Abhijeet Khuman, Day 2
A girl sets out on a journey to find the ancient mythical tree called Kalpvriksha; the tree which can grant any wish or fulfill any desire.

Bhumika, Dhiraj Arvind Meshram, Day 2
The Ram Lila group of a village is disappointed with the drop in the number of spectators. They decide not to stage it next year, until there’s news of a TV channel coming to cover it this year. Would this be an incentive for them to take to the stage?
Sadabahar Brass Band, Tushar More, Day 2
A court notice for an old building brings five brass band players together after a long time. The performers reminisce the long-lost purpose of their lives, before their beloved place is turned into shambles.
Kamakshi (Alice), Satindar Singh Bedi, Day 2
Rama’s wife, Sita, after suffering a long journey full of deprivations and false accusations levelled against her by her beloved husband, pleads to be swallowed up by her mother, the earth. Here, in black and white and 35 mm, we follow an old woman who digs for water in a dry and barren region.
