Sediments found in Frooti bottle
PUNE: A customer in Pune on Mondayregistered a complaint with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in connectionwith the presence of foreign particles found in a one litre PET bottle ofFrooti. The complainant, Yoganand from Vimannagar, who bought two PETmango-flavoured Frooti bottles (batch No. C-13; manufacturing date 6.11.03; bestbefore 5.03.04) from a retail outlet on January 15, found black sediments andfloating foreign material in one of the sealed bottles.Yoganand, inhis complaint to the FDA, has said that despite repeated reminders for the pastfive weeks, officials of the manufacturing company (Parle International) havepreferred to adopt an "indifferent and casual attitude".Whencontacted by TNN, head (technical and quality control department) of Parle AgroPrivate Limited, Vijay Rahate, said, "Our local representatives met theconcerned party several times with respect to the mentioned complaint. We needthe bottle for analysis."Yoganand said the company officials hadvisited him with an assurance that the contaminated bottle would be replacedimmediately."Without bothering to give any explanation for thelapses, the officials who visited me only gave some lecture on bacteriology andfungicides," Yoganand said.
This is not the first time that Parleproducts have encountered such a problem. In March last year, thecompany had withdrawn an entire batch of the 250-ml strawberry-flavoured Njoidrink after TNN carried a report on the presence of fungi in thetetrapack.
