Ranjit Sanjay Nanaware (19) of Urali Kanchan, who was travelling in a multi-utility vehicle, was killed on the spot after the vehicle dashed against a divider and turned on its side at Manjari on Pune-Solapur highway around 7 pm on Sunday.

His co-passenger Poonam Sanjay Sapkal (23) of Naigaon in Haveli sustained severe injuries in the accident. The Hadapsar police have arrested the MUV driver, Shankar Waikar (20) of Urali Kanchan, for negligent driving.
Y A Nandre, assistant inspector of the Hadapsar police station, said Nanaware and Sapkal were heading towards Urali Kanchan.
Another accident took place at Hadapsar near the flyover on Sunday morning. Dilip Shinde (60), a resident of Vetalbaba Vasahat in Hadapsar, was killed after a speeding car knocked him down. The accident took place around 8.30 am when Shinde was crossing the road. The driver of the car did not stop after the accident. The Hadapsar police have launched a search to trace the driver and the car, said B S Doiphode, sub-inspector of the Hadapsar police station.
Earlier on Saturday evening, two-and-a-half-year-old Kartik Nagesh Jadhav was killed after he was crushed under the wheels of a reversing sports utility vehicle at Indiranagar in Chinchwad. The Pimpri police have arrested the driver, Chandrakant Pawar (28) of Indiranagar in Chinchwad, for careless driving.
S N Agavane, sub-inspector of the Pimpri police station, said that Kartik, a resident of Katraj, had come to Chinchwad with his mother to meet their relatives. He was playing in front of the house when Pawar did not notice Kartik and dashed him. The impact was such that Kartik died on the spot, Agavane said.

3-year-old girl, father knocked down in Dehu Road
A three-year-old girl and her father were killed on the spot while the girl's maternal uncle sustained severe injuries after the motorcycle they were riding on was knocked by an unidentified vehicle. The incident took place in Dehu Road on Pune-Mumbai highway around 8.30 pm on Sunday.
The Dehu road police have identified the deceased as Anil Mishra (30) and his daughter Nisha (3) of Sidharthnagar.
Nisha's uncle, Arun Navkar, is undergoing treatment in a private hospital. The accident occurred when the trio was on their way to the hospital to meet Mishra's newborn daughter.
Police said Mishra used to work as tractor driver along with Navkar in Talegaon Dabhade. Mishra's wife delivered a baby girl around two days ago. He had borrowed money from his owner for paying the hospital bills.
"Mishra, his daughter and Navkar were riding towards the hospital on their motorcycle. When they reached Dehu Road, an unidentified vehicle knocked their motorcycle," the police said.
Local people rushed them to a private hospital, where Nisha was declared dead on arrival. Mishra died during treatment, the police added.
