Woman assaulted by coworker succumbed to injuries

Pune: A 22-year-old woman, who was assaulted by her coworker on April 29. , succumbed to the injuries on Thursday.The incident happened in the woman's room at Chandannagar. The accused had barged into her house and attacked her with a sharp weapon on her neck. The woman was undergoing treatment in a hospital, where she succumbed to the injuries.The Chandannagar police have arrested the accused under section Section 109 (murder attempt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). "We will add Section 103 (murder) against the accused," an officer from the Mundhwa police said.He said that the deceased woman and the accused, ( 22) , were working in a mall located on the Pune-Nagar Road. They were in a relationship. "Recently, the woman's parents fixed her marriage with another man. The woman had told the accused to end their relationship," he said.The officer said that furious by this, the accused brutally assaulted the woman. Despite severe injuries, she made a video call to her brother and informed him about the incident. "She was not in a condition to talk. She managed to write the accused's name on a paper, which helped us trace him," the officer said.
