Raipur: In a first for the Bilaspur rail division, South East Central Railway (SECR) has equipped the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) Rest House here with new welfare-focused amenities, including foot massagers, as part of a phased upgrade aimed at improving recovery and comfort for ticket checking staff after long duty hours.
Railway officials said the rest house has also been fitted with industrial RO water machines and CCTV cameras, among other additions, to create a more supportive and secure environment for staff who spend extended periods on trains assisting passengers and enforcing ticketing rules.
The division said the initiative is intended to help employees recover from physical fatigue, reduce mental stress and maintain alertness, with the broader objective of improving efficiency, service quality and job satisfaction.
“The working conditions for railway employees are challenging, and ticket checking staff constantly serve passengers for long hours,” senior divisional commercial manager Anurag Kumar Singh said. “Ensuring their rest, health, and mental alertness is our priority. These modern amenities at the rest house will provide relief and fresh energy to staff after their duties, helping them perform their responsibilities with greater positivity,” he added.
The officer said the TTE Rest House has seen multiple improvements in recent weeks and that additional welfare measures and facility upgrades will be taken up in the coming phases.
