Raipur: A shocking case of suspected self-sabotage done out of superstition, triggered horror in Chhattisgarh's Korba village after a youth allegedly slit his own throat and jumped into a well in a suicide attempt. The man suddenly attacked himself with a sharp knife slashing his throat and, bleeding profusely, ran through the village lanes in a distressed state.
Before residents could intervene, he jumped into a well. Police said, preliminary findings suggest a mental health-related issue, but all angles, including family claims of superstition, were being examined.

The incident occurred in Benderkona village, and the man was identified as Ram Krishna Kurre.
Locals quickly gathered and launched a rescue operation, pulling him out of the well. Emergency services were alerted, and a Dial 112 team shifted the severely injured youth to the district medical college hospital, where his condition remains critical, officials said.
Family members told police that Kurre had been under severe mental stress for the past few days and appeared fearful. Some relatives claimed he was behaving oddly and suspected he was under the influence of "supernatural forces," though police said such claims were unverified.
Unable to speak due to deep throat injuries, the youth reportedly asked for pen and paper at the hospital and wrote that police should be informed if he died, indicating the extent of his distress.
Police from Rampur civil lines police station have registered a case and launched an investigation. Further clarity is expected after medical assessment and the victim's statement once his condition stabilises.
