RAIPUR: Two newly-married couples of the same family drowned in Baganaccha waterfall in Koriya district of north Chhattisgarh on Monday evening.
The victims - Mohammad Tahir, 26, his wife Sahina Parveen, 21, and Tahir's brother-in-law Niyaz Ahm-ed, 26, and his wife Sana Parveen, 22 - were married in March this year. It's believed Tahir and Ahmed started drowning and the women died trying to save them.
Sahina was visiting her parents in Manendragarh town of Koriya and her husband had joined her a couple of days ago. The couple was to travel back to their home in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, in a few days, and a picnic at the picturesque Baganaccha waterfall was to be one of their last outings.
Sana and Niyaz joined them and the four of them set off on Monday afternoon. Tahir and Ahmed entered first and ventured deep. Seeing them drown, their wives jumped in after them to save them and they also ended up drowning.
