RAJKOT: District administration in Surendranagar along with the poll machinery will be launching a campaign to educate voters of Limbdi assembly constituency that goes to bypolls on June 2 with an aim to increase the voter turnout. Emphasis will be laid on villages that had reported low voter turnout in the assembly polls held in December last year.
1x1 polls
Sources said that the administration has identified 14 such villages where the polling percentage was less than 60 per cent. "We will organize street plays, elocution contests and rallies to encourage people to cast their votes in the bypolls," said an official.
The seat fell vacant when the winner in the assembly polls Soma Patel decided to retain his Lok Sabha membership and resigned as the winning MLA. The bypolls will see Patel's son Satish Patel pitted against former state environment minister Kiritsinh Rana of the BJP.
