Hazaribag: Three persons from
Bihar’s Rohtas district were arrested for allegedly duping a woman here by posing as sadhus and decamping with her gold jewellery, police said on Tuesday.
The accused were identified as Malteri Lathore, Akhilesh Lathore and Titai Lathore, all residents of Amjhor police station area in Rohtas district.
Police said Gudiya Devi, a resident of Hurhuru locality in Hazaribag, reported that three men dressed as sadhus visited her house on Monday evening and took away her gold jewellery.
Acting on the complaint, a police team launched a search operation. During the investigation, police learnt that the suspects had fled towards Massipidi area. Teams were deployed to track them based on inputs.
During the search, police intercepted three suspicious persons riding a motorcycle near a hospital on the Ranchi-Patna highway. On questioning, their responses raised suspicion, following which they were searched.
Police recovered the stolen gold chain belonging to Devi and seven small suspected gold lockets from their possession.
Bara Bazar outpost officer in-charge Mukesh Kumar Rajak said, “A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.”
