GUMLA: A non-tribal boy has been accused of using a "fake" Scheduled Tribe certificate which he is believed to have used to seek a job in the army.
Ravindra Sahu, a resident of Potro village of Bhadauli panchayat, procured a fake ST from Sisai circle of the district in the name of Jyoti Bhagat, the son of Yogendra Bhagat of Nagar village.
The matter came to light when the army had sought verification of a family photo of the original Yogendra Bhagat which included Sahu, according to Sisai circle officer Ranjta Toppo.

Bhagat then submitted a representation to Gumla DC saying he has no son in the name of Jyoti.
The DC then asked the additional collector to probe the matter. On investigation it was found that a certificate had been issued in the name of Jyoti Bhagat, son of Yogendra Bhagat, resident of Nagar village under Sisai circle on August 6, 2007.
"Toppo has lodged a complaint with Sisai police seeking action against Sahu who had obtained a fake ST certificate on Tuesday," said Sisai PS officer in-charge Birendra Toppo. A source said Sahu was reportedly undergoing training in the army. The actual father of the accused, Manager Sahu, is learnt to have said that since his son resides with his in-laws at Nagni village in Lohardaga district he is ignorant about his son working in the army.
