Dhanbad Police Seizes 300 Litres of Raw Spirit Smuggled to Bihar Ahead of Festive Season

Dhanbad: The police seized 300 litres of raw spirit from Bartand bus stand here on Saturday. The consignment, the police said, was being smuggled to Bihar ahead of the festive season. However, the smugglers managed to flee.RN Thakur, the officer in-charge of Dhanbad police station, said, “The raid was carried out based on a tip-off. A team of officers carried out the raid and seized a container parked at the bus stand. In it were sealed paint buckets of a reputed brand concealing the raw spirit, amounting to 300 litres.”The consignment was handed over to the excise officials. Joy Hembrom, district excise inspector, said “During the festive season, the demand for country-made liquor rises sharply. Unscrupulous traders procure raw spirit to prepare spurious liquor for higher profits. Such liquor is harmful and life-threatening.
