Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Wednesday directed the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) to ensure that the purchase of equipment and machines required in the hospital was completed by May 30.
A division bench of Chief Justice MS Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar, was hearing a public litigation on the poor infrastructure of Rims.

Meanwhile, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) moved a petition requesting the high court not to lodge an FIR against the civic body officials responsible for sanctioning plans that led to encroachments on Rims.
The court rejected the petition and ordered the registration of an FIR against the civic body officials, who had sanctioned plans for construction on the premises of Rims. It also ordered RMC officers to appear before the investigating officer in the case.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) presented a sealed report of the FIR lodged against corrupt officials of the RMC and other accused persons involved in the encroachment of the Rims campus.
The court directed the bureau to continue its investigation and submit a status report in the matter.
The case would next be heard on April 23.
The PIL was filed by social activist Jyoti Sharma. Sharma said several posts in Rims, besides in dental college, nursing college, and paramedic wing under Rims, were lying vacant. She also cited the lack of infrastructure and equipment in the autonomous hospital. Patients had to go outside for undergoing tests for treatment in Rims, the PIL said.
