Ranchi: TheNew traffic plan for Durga Puja will come into force in the city from Saturday as part of which vehicular movement would be barred and diverted on several routes to ensure smooth movement.The traffic police on Wednesday issued a notification stating that entry of heavy vehicles would be prohibited in the city from 8 am to 4 am from September 27 to October 3.Police stated that drop gates would be set up at NUSRL (Law University), Boria ring road, BIT ring road, Khelgaon-Kokar route, Durga Soren Chowk-Kantatoli road, Durga Soren Chowk-Makchund Toli Chowk road, Rampur, Kharisdaag, Bridgeford School, Satrangi School, Birsa Chowk and Sahid Maidan to prevent the entry of heavy vehicles.Movement of private vehicles, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and small goods carrying vehicles would be barred from Kutchery Chowk to Sujata Chowk via Sahid Chowk and Firayalal Chowk from September 27 to October 3, police stated. Vehicles coming from Sujata Chowk towards main road would stop at Sainik Market and GEL Church complex. The police stated that all small vehicles moving from Piska More towards New market would turn towards Pahari Mandir from Menakshi Cinema More and progress towards Harmu Chowk via Kishoreganj Chowk.
Vehicles going from Harmu Chowk toward Ratu can come up to Kishoreganj Chowk. The two-wheelers, however, can move towards Piska More via Pahari Mandir and Minakshi Cinema More.Police said that small vehicles coming from Kanke Road toward Kutchery Chowk would go up to Zakir Hussain park, from Lalpur Chowk to Kucthery More upto JPSC office and from Bariatu to Albert Ekka Chowk up to Line tank.Traffic SP Rakesh Singh said, “Around 1,100 traffic personnel would be deployed in various parts of the city to regulate traffic movement. Police have decided to set up drop gates at 150 places to manage the movement of vehicles. Traffic police would be posted at 250 places in the city.”
