Jamshedpur: The third Monday of the holy Shravan month, which is also the seventh Monday of extended Shravan, witnessed several religious events in the Steel City.
The highlight of the day was the kanwar yatra organised by the Suryadham temple committee in Sidhgora and rudraabhishek of 11 lakh parthiv shivlingams at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur.
Organised by the temple committee and led by its chief patron former CM, Raghubar Das, the kanwar yatra started with priests administering the sacred rites to the hundreds of the shravan enthusiasts who arrived to the banks of Subernarekha river in Baridih to collect water.
Two medical teams, two ambulances, 100 plus volunteers were deputed.
"Since several years, the temple committee has been organising kanwar yatra and jalaabhishek on the tritiya somvari. This year too the programme has been successfully organised," said Das.
At Gopal maidan, rudraabhishek of the 11 lakh parthiv shivlingams was performed in total conformity with the rituals. The priests performed the puja with the flowers and bael leaves brought in large quantity from Kolkata.
