SALEM: The opening of two bridges and a community centre in Attur municipality in Salem district kicked up a storm after inauguration plaques failed to mention the names of chief minister
M K Stalin and deputy chief minister
Udhayanidhi Stalin.
Municipal chairwoman Nirmala Babitha Manikandan and commissioner Syed Mustafa Kamal inaugurated the two bridges in Palayapettai and Pudhupettai and a community centre in Jyothi Nagar.
During the event, DMK members noticed that the plaques had only the names of municipal chairwoman and the commissioner. The municipal chairwoman is a DMK member.
There was no mention of chief minister M K Stalin and deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on the plaques, said DMK town secretaries Balasubramaniam and Ramchandran. They added that there’s no mention of the local MLA and other civic body authorities, including the deputy chairwoman.
DMK functionaries questioned whether the Attur municipality had forgotten the CM and Deputy CM and asked the municipal commissioner to immediately replace the plaques. The commissioner assured that the names would be added without delay.
