Uttarkashi car accident: 2 dead, 5 injured after car plunges into gorge near Gangnani

UTTARKASHI: A tragic road accident occurred today near Gangnani on the Gangotri National Highway. A Swift car, traveling from Gangnani towards Uttarkashi, suddenly lost control and plunged into a deep gorge. A total of five people were on board the vehicle.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the district administration took swift action and initiated relief and rescue operations. Acting on the directives of district magistrate Prashant Arya, teams from the SDRF, police, revenue, and health departments were immediately dispatched to the scene.

So far, the rescue teams have declared one woman and one man dead. Meanwhile, one injured woman and two injured men have been extricated from the gorge and brought up to the road level. All the injured individuals are currently being transported to the CHC Bhatwari for medical treatment.

At the accident site, teams from the SDRF, police, and health department are engaged in relief and rescue operations with full vigilance. The health department has also deployed ambulances and essential life-saving equipment to the scene. Additionally, the PHC Bhatwari has been placed on high alert.

The administration is continuously monitoring the situation, and an investigation into the causes of the accident is underway.
