The girl was admitted to New Civil Hospital for treatment and her condition is stated to be critical.
Head constable of Surat railway police Chatra Singh, who is conducting investigation into the case, said, "On recording her statement, we have come to know her as Rinku Singh (18) of Jakhania in Gazipur, UP. The youth has been identified as Gokul Singh Abhimanue (18) of the same village." The couple was in love, but their family and community members objected to it, so they fled the village on August 25 and were in the city for the past two days.
"They were scared that their family members would separate them. Therefore, they decided to end their lives," said Singh adding, "We have informed their parents."
Police said Rinku's condition is serious as her one leg was cut from the knee and other from the hip.
