THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University vice-chancellor P K Radhakrishnan on Wednesday removed varsity standing counsel George Poonthottam and appointed high court advocate Bachu Kurian Thomas as the new counsel.
"Among other lapses, his failure in keeping varsity authorities informed about the developments of a case involving the university and former university finance standing committee chairman Jyothikumar Chamakkla prompted his removal.

Appointed as university counsel in 2011, George Poonthottam had appeared for the varsity in the controversial case involving appointment of university assistants.
