Youth on rowdy list held for attacking police, damaging jeep
T'puram: A 19-year-old youth on the rowdy list of Kovalam police station was arrested for allegedly attacking police officers who arrived to probe a complaint of attempted trespass at a resort and damaging a police vehicle.The arrested accused is Vishnu Manikuttan (19) of Olippuvila. According to police, the incident occurred around 9.30pm on Saturday after a complaint was received that a youth attempted to trespass into a resort near K S Road, Kovalam, and was creating a disturbance with security staff. Police who reached the spot to conduct an inquiry were allegedly obstructed from performing their duty. The accused reportedly abused and threatened the officers during the altercation. Police said the accused also damaged the official jeep by breaking the right-side mirror and rain guard. Following the incident, a case was registered against him. After his arrest, he was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.Further probe into the incident is under way.Police officials stated that strict action would be taken against those attempting to interfere with law enforcement personnel during the discharge of official duties.
