Trichy: Deputy chief minister
Udhayanidhi Stalin took a dig at
AIADMK general secretary
Edappadi K Palaniswami stating that he should continue as the party's leader so that DMK can continue to win elections.
Campaigning in Thanjavur, Perambalur, and Ariyalur districts on Monday, Udhayanidhi repeatedly called Palaniswami a "brutal slave (murattu adimai)".
While campaigning in Kunnam in Perambalur district in support of the incumbent MLA and transport minister S S Sivasankar, Udhayanidhi said Palaniswami is always thinking and talking about him. "I am not a threat to Palaniswami's life. He should live for a hundred years and continue as the permanent general secretary of AIADMK. It is best for us and for Tamil Nadu," Udhayanidhi said.
Earlier, campaigning for five-time MLA Durai Chandrasekaran at Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur district, Udhayanidhi said Durai Chandrasekaran would become a minister and bring more development to the constituency. "This time, you must ensure victory with an even larger margin — at least one lakh votes, or at least 60,000 votes. I will speak to the president (M K Stalin) and ensure he is made a minister. If he wins by a margin of one lakh votes, I will visit Thanjavur district once every month to meet the people," he said.
Udhayanidhi also campaigned in Thiruvidaimaruthur for incumbent MLA and minister Govi Chezhian.
