Karur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday revisited Velusamypuram as part of its ongoing probe into the stampede during a rally addressed by TVK chief Vijay on Sept 27, in which 41 people were killed and over 100 injured.
As part of the reconstruction exercise, a three-member CBI team led by an inspector summoned five people, including a girl who was injured in the incident and a youth who had attended the meeting. The team asked them to identify where they were standing when the crowd surge occurred and photographed them at those locations to document their positions.

The agency has been investigating the case since October, when it took over the probe. In recent weeks, it questioned Vijay, district SP Josh Thangaiah and others in Delhi.
Earlier, officials measured the road layout at the venue and recorded statements from shopkeepers, police personnel on duty, ambulance operators and families of the deceased as part of the inquiry.
