Teen, 16, elderly woman die in road accidents

Trichy: A 16-year-old boy riding pillion was killed after his 17-year-old friend crashed his motorcycle into an electrical pole in Trichy on Tuesday. In another incident the same day, a 65-year-old woman died after she was hit by a speeding motorcycle while crossing a road near Ariyamangalam.The deceased boy was M Mohamed Moshif from Beema Nagar. He was traveling with his friend from Anna Nagar towards the MGR statue around 4.30am when the rider lost control and collided into an electrical pole near the combined court complex. The impact threw both boys off the motorcycle, resulting in serious injuries. They were taken to a private hospital for treatment, but Moshif died around 9am.In another incident, J Selvamani from Malaiyappa Nagar near Ariyamangalam was trying to cross the Trichy-Thanjavur road around 7pm when she was hit by a speeding motorcycle. Selvamani suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital, where she died around 8.30pm. Motorcycle rider S Gowtham, 23, from Lakshmipuram near Ariyamangalam has been booked.
