VADODARA: Asmita Manch, a body formed by Congress leaders and other politicians, launched a full-fledged attack on mayor Jyoti Pandya on Monday and alleged that her admission to the Master of Arts (MA) and LLB in M S University was bogus. Members of the body said Pandya was given special treatment by the M S University as she was holding mayor's post.
Pandya had on Sunday issued two letters stating her admission to the law faculty was sustained. This after the university authorities had last month stated that her admission was cancelled after they realised that there was some goof-up. "To hide one lie, Pandya is now speaking more lies. The letters produced by her are self-explanatory and show that MSU was under pressure to issue them. She wrote these letters just five days ago after controversy regarding her admission surfaced," said advocate Narendra Parmar.
Asmita Manch members said Pandya didn't produce all the relevant letters mentioned in the two-page document that she made public.
Yogesh Akolkar, convenor of MSU ex-students association, has written to Gujarat governor demanding a
CBI probe into the scam as the city police is not investigating the case properly.
