Baroda Dairy to increase milk prices from Aug 1

From Monday, Barodians too will have to pay more for their daily milk. The Baroda District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (BDCMPUL), popularly known as Baroda Dairy, has decided to increase prices of milk by Rupees two per litre of standard milk from August 1.

VADODARA: From Monday, Barodians too will have to pay more for their daily milk. The Baroda District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (BDCMPUL), popularly known as Baroda Dairy, has decided to increase prices of milk by Rupees two per litre of standard milk from August 1.
Like other dairy unions of Gujarat, Baroda Dairy too was expected to increase prices of milk but a formal announcement regarding the date was made on Friday.

"We have decided to increase prices of milk by Rupees two per litre in Amul Gold, Amul Shakti while prices of other varieties will be increased by Rupee one per litre," Baroda Dairy's vice-chairman Ajitsinh Thakore told TOI.
Earlier, Surat's Sumul Dairy had increased prices of Amul milk in Surat market on July 20.
Later, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) that markets brand Amul had announced that prices of Amul milk would be revised across Gujarat.
While consumers in Ahmedabad, Saurashtra, Anand and Kheda districts had already started paying more for their daily milk from July 25, other North Gujarat based dairies too have increased prices of milk this week.
"We too have no other option as the decision to revise milk prices has been taken by GCMMF which is the apex marketing body of all dairy unions," added Thakore. Baroda Dairy presently supplies 3.83 lakh litres per day (LLPD) in the district market while its milk collection which was witnessing a decline has improved from 2.63 LLPD to 3 LLPD.
It is the 14{+t} {+h} price hike introduced by GCMMF in Gujarat since 2006 and second this year. Last year, price of milk had soared across the state thrice. Presently, Amul Gold costs Rs 34 per litre whereas Amul Shakti costs Rs 31 per litre. Similarly, Amul Cow milk and Amul Slim & Trim are priced at Rs 29 and Rs 24 per litre respectively. With the latest price hike, Amul Gold will cost Rs 36 per litre whereas Amul Shakti will cost Rs 33 per litre. Similarly, Amul cow milk and Amul Slim & Trim will be priced at Rs 30 and Rs 25 per litre.
