Vadodara: Models prepared by students to mark the World Tourism Day were displayed at MS University’s department of family and community resource management of faculty of family and community sciences on the campus on Wednesday.
Students had prepared 2D cut-outs and frames as well as 3D models on various monuments and famous lakes of the country.
Representing various states of the country, the students had also prepared floor decoration while the senior students of MSc programme had prepared a model on eco-tourism homestay.
“The purpose of celebrating World Tourism Day was to spread awareness about the importance of tourism among the global community and its impact on social, cultural, political and economic value of the nation,” said Dr Sarjoo Patel, convener and assistant professor at the department.
“The day served as an opportunity to highlight the significance of tourism in generating income, creating jobs and supporting local communities, as well as encouraging responsible and sustainable tourism practices. So overall it contributes in reaching sustainable development goals,” she said.
