Robbery plot to fracture bank's merger?
Was the theft of pawned jewellery deposits from the Anyonya Co-operative Bank intended to fracture the bank's proposed merger with Maharashtra-based Saraswat Co-operative Bank Ltd?
This is a question that is doing the rounds among account holders and several officials of the Anyonya Co-operative Bank.
According to sources in the bank, there are two factions at loggerheads.
"It is alleged that many higher officials in the bank are against the proposed merger, as they fear inquiry into their past transactions, threatening to open a can of worms," the source said.
