Vadodara: With self-enumeration for Census 2027 beginning on May 17, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has launched a large-scale awareness drive to encourage maximum citizen participation in the exercise.
According to VMC officials, residents can complete the self-enumeration process online through the census portal. Citizens will also receive step-by-step guidance on submitting their details, while officials assured that the information shared on the portal will remain secure.
VMC commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu said the self-enumeration phase will continue till May 31. “We appeal to citizens to submit accurate and complete information online from the comfort of their homes,” he said.
Alongside the awareness campaign, the civic body has also initiated training for personnel involved in the census operation. For the exercise, the city has been divided into 3,791 census blocks, and a total of 4,836 enumerators and supervisors will be deployed.
Officials said VMC has already started a three-tier training programme involving ward officials, field trainers, enumerators and supervisors. The entire census data collection process will be conducted digitally.
Enumerators and supervisors will visit households in their designated blocks between June 1 and June 30 to carry out the population enumeration process.
While self-enumeration allows citizens to voluntarily submit household information online, enumerators will later conduct physical population enumeration. In cases where residents do not complete self-enumeration, field staff will collect household details directly during their visits.
